Prophecies
Michel de Nostredame was a French apothecary and alleged seer who published collections of prophecies which cover a large periods of time and are believed to be astonishingly accurate. He is best known for his book “Les Propheties” (The Prophecies), the first edition of which appeared in 1555. Nostradamus structured all his works into a series of four lined prose, which were then collected into "centuries", or groups of 100 works, these were known as "quatrains".
Nostradamus’ quatrains have been interpreted differently by many annotators throughout the years. Many books have been written based on these various interpretations, though the different "readings" of his material have varied wildly from one publication to the next.
Renowned historian Ian Wilson comments on the magnitude of the controversy surrounding Nostradamus' prophecies in his publication "Nostradamus- The evidence" 2002 wherein he states:
"...There can be few whose writings have been quoted, misquoted, debunked and even faked so often and so long after their death as those of the French physician, astrologer and prophet Michel de Nostredame (1503-1566), better known by his Latinised surname of Nostradamus. Whenever there is a momentous event such as the death of President Kennedy or Princess Diana or the destruction of the World Trade Center, we can be sure that one of his numerous supposedly precognitive quatrains will be resurrected as evidence that he saw it all coming nearly 500 years ago."

Mary, Queen of Scots
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #1-86
"The great queen, upon seeing herself vanquished,
Will exhibit an excess of masculine courage;
On horseback she will ride totally unprotected,
Pursued by swordsmen; an act of outrage!"
A beaten queen, Mary Queen of Scots escapes her captors by stealing a horse and riding unguarded for over 150 kilometers to reach friendly land. She is pursued in the night-time by a group of armed swordsmen on horseback. Nostradamus notes the extreme bravery of this queen, and the extreme cowardice of the group of men pursuing her.

King Henry II of France
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #1-35
"The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death."
It is said that Nostradamus warned King Henry that he was soon to die. In the summer of 1559 King Henry II of France, as predicted, was killed by Comte de Montgomery in a jousting contest. Montgomery was 6 years younger than the king and both of them had shields with embossed lions. The king was wounded accidentally by Montgomery with his lance, in two places: a piece of the shattered lance entered the eye (it pierced his eyes through a golden cage) and a piece penetrated his temple. Henry suffered for 10 days before dying in his bed (he died a cruel death).

Princess Diana
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-28
“The penultimate of the surname of Prophet
will take Diana [Thursday] for his day of rest:
he will wander because of a frantic head,
and delivering a great people from subjection.”
Princess Diana, whose name is clearly marked in the quatrain, was killed in a car accident in 1997. She was accompanied by Dodi Al-Fayed, who was thought to be her boyfriend, and was the son of ‘Mohammad’ Al-Fayed (thus, the ‘prophet’). “The day of rest” is Sunday, the day Diana died, while the verse “delivering a great people from subjection” may be explained by the amounts of people that gathered to mourn the death of this dearly loved princess.

Hitler
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #3-35
“From the depths of the West of Europe,
A young child will be born of poor people,
He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop;
His fame will increase towards the realm of the East."
Also ...
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-24
"Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers;
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn,
When the child of Germany observes nothing."
On April 20, 1889 Hitler was born in Western Europe, to very poor parents. “By his tongue”, Hitler moved Germany to action in the years following WW I, through his incredible oratory skills.
This is only one of the several quatrains which describe World War II. The ‘beast’ is interpreted as being Adolf Hitler and the German army, crossing over to invade France. The second line refers to the Alliance (Allied Powers) that put an end to Hitler’s (“Hister’s”) reign of terror. The third line may represent a description of the German tanks.
The child of Germany is probably Hitler himself.

NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #1-87
“Earthshaking fire from the center of the earth
will cause tremors around the New City.
Two great rocks will war for a long time,
then Arethusa will redden a new river.”
The "center of the Earth" is often interpreted as being the World Trade Center and the "New City" as being New York City. The "two great rocks" is easily interpreted as being the two towers. Arethusa has connections to the serpent Ladon, perhaps this is a cryptic name for Laden?

Napoleon Bonaparte
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #8-1
"PAU, NAY, LORON will be more of fire than of the blood,
To swim in praise, the great one to flee to the confluence.
He will refuse entry to the Piuses,
The depraved ones and the Durance will keep them imprisoned."
This quatrain is one of the most famous prophecies of Nostradamus in which he directly mentioned the name of person. The words PAU, NAY, LORON are three towns in southern France: Pau, Nay and Oloron, but when the letters of these words are re-arranged it becomes “Napaulon Roy”, or Napoleon the King in French (Napoleon Bonaparte).
In this quatrain “more of fire than of blood” refers to Napoleon's non-noble lineage.
The ‘Piuses’ of the third line are the Popes Pius VI and Pius VII, who were both imprisoned by Napoleon as is implied by the last line.

NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-46
After great trouble for humanity, a greater one is prepared
The Great Mover renews the ages:
Rain, blood, milk, famine, steel and plague,
Is the heavens fire seen, a long spark running.
Many of Nostradamus' followers believe that this quatrain refers to the end of the world (Armaggedon). In this quatrain Nostradamus refers to "a long spark running", this could be the "long tailed comet" that many believe will crash onto Earth or a planet nearby and cause catastrophic damage.
